The Basics of Estate Planning Seminar Monthly Seminar
Anderson & Brodersen is pleased to announce the commencement of our free monthly seminar which will be held the first Tuesday and the last Wednesday of every month commencing May 29, 2019 at 6:00PM at our offices. Seating will be limited to ten (10) attendees at each seminar. Robert Nordstrom, a retired Michigan Probate Judge, now an attorney at the firm focusing on Estate Planning and Elder Law and Paul Grivas, an Estate Planning Attorney, will be teaching the seminars.
In our experience we have found many clients do their initial estate planning when first married or upon having their first child. The documents may remain unchanged for, literally, decades, while there are changes in tax and inheritance laws. Assets change as well. A check up to see if your documents need to be updated is always a good idea. Additionally, many people prepare a Trust but subsequently fail to put their assets in the Trust, thereby defeating the purpose of establishing it, which, for most people, is to avoid probate and insure an orderly disposition of assets to named heirs and beneficiaries. Powers of attorney, Health Care Directives and Wills should be updated as well.
